I have noticed that when I do this it triggers a full sync on the photo & music folder.Ĭan anyone else who has Synology Drive for Windows and uses iTunes for desktop, and has a sync folder where they had chose the option to "free local space" confirm if they see the same behavior? Eventually I think I will have to get in contact with Synology Support, but just need to rule out that this would happen for all instances and not just my setup. I use iTunes desktop app and I plug in my phone to the computer just to make a iTunes backup of the phone. Tap the file or folder you want to access. On the Browse tab, tap the Synology Drive icon. On the Browse tab, tap at the upper-right corner, and tap Edit. Download and install Synology Drive Client from Synology Download Center. Enable the Synology Drive folder in Files. Set up connection between your Synology NAS and your computer. With a recent Synology Drive update things have been reeking havoc. Go to Control Panel > Application Privileges (for DSM 7.0 and above) or Privileges (for DSM 6.2 and earlier), select Synology Drive > Edit, and make sure you have set up correct permissions. When you view an item on the computer it will download and then you can view. Syncing has been working fine and usually on some of the bigger sized folders (photos & music) I would have right clicked on those folders and chose an option call "Free up local space." This works well because then the data exists on the nas but can be viewed on the computer. ![]() I currently have Synology Drive sync tasks for my window pc desktop, documents, photo, video, music, download folders. Your OSes have more #UAC that Vista now, something you made fun of, they aren’t fluid anymore.I'm looking for other Synology Drive on Windows users' input on this matter. if you’re listening, doubt it, get your *stuff* together already. To set up Cloud Station Drive: On your Windows computer, go to Start > All Programs > Synology Cloud Station Drive to launch the setup wizard. I think it has surpassed Apple’s own now. Download and install the Cloud Station application from Synologys Download Center and then follow the instructions in this section to configure the syncing service provided by Cloud Station. You could use as an alternative some other thing self-hosted, like Nextcloud and leverage the excellent storage backplane your unit does have and, leverage the second-to-none customer support the app has. My biggest issue overall though, is that it constantly disconnects and you had to relink as if it was synced for the first time this could very easily cause corrupt data somewhere. If you do this so it stops bugging then it’d complain of the cert not matching the SLDN or whatever QuickConnnectID represents in the unit. To use this app and enjoy its features, you must own Synology NAS and install the latest Synology Drive Server. It still keeps pushing to connect instead using QuickConnectID even using a certificate-validated-FQDN in the local network. I was dreaming to get this app before so if I could get rid of the resource-murdering Resilio Sync, but when I first downloaded a beta version of DSM that had it I felt it was exactly the same issues DS Cloud had/has with a plastic-ier look. Install Synology Drive on your Mac using the same steps for Windows OS above.
